Avaya Voip

Avaya, one of the leading business communication equipment manufacturers in the world and user of Avaya VoIP, has a huge customer base that includes some of the largest corporations, government agencies, as well as small businesses. The company is known for its communication devices and software for Avaya VoIP, web access, and messaging. Among other equipment, Avaya sells a wide range of IP phones that incorporate all the above-mentioned characteristics. Avaya’s VoIP product portfolio also includes PBX systems, Gateways, Servers, and an extensive suite of IP telephony applications. In addition to communication products and software, Avaya and Avaya VoIP also offer consulting, integration and managed services to corporations. The services segment is managed by its subsidiary – Avaya Global Services. Formerly, a unit of Lucent Technologies (now known as Alcatel-Lucent), Avaya became an independent corporation in 2000. The spin off from Lucent was ensued by drastic restructuring and strategic changes. One of the key strategic initiatives was the decision to outsource most of its manufacturing operations. Over the years, while using Avaya VoIP, Avaya has grown its presence worldwide. The company sells its products directly as well as through authorized distributors, system integrators, resellers, and service providers in various countries. Larger corporations are served directly by Avaya VoIP, whereas small and mid sized companies are usually serviced by either direct or channel partners. Besides, since its spin off from Lucent, Avaya has expanded its business communication products portfolio because of several key acquisitions. In 2004, it acquired Expanets — a major reseller for Avaya’s products at the time. This acquisition helped Avaya increase its small and midsize customer segment significantly. Later in the same year, the company also purchased Spectel, a provider of audio conferencing tools. In 2005, Avaya acquired peer-to-peer communication software developer Nimcat Networks. Another key acquisition was that of Traverse Networks in 2006. Traverse Networks was a top communications software developer for all types of mobile devices. All of these acquisitions occurred with Avaya’s continued use of Avaya VoIP. Although, Avaya VoIP’s range of products includes traditional business communication equipment, the company is fast becoming a leader in the IP-based systems domain.
